Spend day one at Cellular Jail and Corbyn's Cove, then reserve day two for North Bay or Ross Island. This plan assumes two sightseeing days in Port Blair; adjust it around your actual flight and ferry times.

Your two days at a glance

  • Day 1 morning: Cellular Jail. Afternoon: lunch and Corbyn's Cove. Evening: the Light and Sound programme if booked, or dinner and rest.
  • Day 2: choose North Bay for marine activities or Ross Island for history. Add the other only if your confirmed boat service includes both.
  • Arrival or departure day: reduce the sightseeing plan around airport formalities, hotel check-in and the reporting time on your ticket.

This is a suggested order, not a fixed tour or departure schedule. Use the places-to-visit guide to compare the stops before reserving activities.

Day 1: Cellular Jail and the coast

Morning: Cellular Jail

The National Memorial tells an important part of India's freedom struggle, while its museum and galleries (opens in a new tab) help provide context around the prison and the people who were held there.

Check the visitor opening day first, then leave the morning for the memorial and galleries. If your flight lands that morning, start after arrival formalities and check-in arrangements; move the memorial visit if you cannot reach it within visiting hours.

Afternoon: lunch and Corbyn's Cove

Corbyn's Cove is one of the most accessible well-known beaches near the city. Official South Andaman information (opens in a new tab) describes it as a coconut-palm-fringed beach roughly six kilometres from Port Blair town.

Take a lunch break before continuing to the beach by road. Keep the afternoon to this one coastal stop so there is room to return for an evening booking. Follow beach notices and local conditions for any water activity.

Evening: show or a quiet return

If attending the Cellular Jail Light and Sound programme, confirm the date, language, reporting time and ticket separately. Otherwise, return for dinner and check the next morning's boat arrangements. Avoid treating an unconfirmed show as a guaranteed part of the day.

Day 2: choose your island outing

North Bay for marine activities

Official South Andaman information (opens in a new tab) highlights snorkelling around its fringing coral reefs and sea-walk experiences. Private ferry services operate from Aberdeen Jetty.

Confirm the departure jetty, reporting time, return sailing and which activities are included. Leave space in the day for waiting and boarding; do not add an onward inter-island ferry connection on the strength of an estimated sightseeing return time.

Ross Island for history

Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Island (opens in a new tab), formerly Ross Island, offers colonial ruins and the Smritika museum. Choose it instead of North Bay if heritage is your priority, or combine them only when the operator confirms both stops.

If your arrival or boat plan changes

  • Late arrival: keep the first evening free and move Cellular Jail to the next available visiting session. Choose one main outing on the remaining day.
  • Cancelled sailing: check the Anthropological Museum or Samudrika opening day for an indoor alternative. Add a road outing only if local conditions allow.
  • Flight or onward ferry on day two: use a shorter city plan and work backwards from the reporting time on your ticket. Keep the airport or ferry connection as the fixed point.

For museum and local-stop options, see nearby attractions. If adding Swaraj Dweep or Shaheed Dweep, plan those stays and ferry tickets separately using the first Andaman trip guide.

Where to stay for this plan

The Port Blair area and room guide compares a city base, a ferry-focused stop and a coastal stay. Hotel Ambika Residency is on 10 FMC Road in Prem Nagar, Junglighat; our location page has the airport, Haddo and Phoenix Bay arrival routes.

Choose a Standard Room or Premium Room for your party size. Confirm check-in and breakfast timing if you have an early start; 24-hour reception does not guarantee that a room is available before check-in.
